On Friday, the organizers of the Tour de Suisse have revealed new details of the course for the next edition.
In 2017, the Swiss race will return to Ticino after "the success of the stage finishes in Olivone in 2015 and in Carì in 2016.”
In a few months, both Cevio and Locarno will appear in the race as finishing city – for a likely bunch sprint - and starting city respectively. "The atmosphere and the joy that reigned in the Ticino stage towns have always been fantastic,” said Olivier Senn, director of the race.
The route is not finalized yet but many details are already known. Cham will be the scene of the Grand Départ, the third stage will start from Menziken, Sölden and the famous Rettenbachferner will again host a summit finish, while La Punt, Zernez m Engadin, Villars-sur-Ollon and Bex have also been chosen as stage cities.
