The 2018 World Championships will be held in Innsbruck, Austria, according to a report by DirectVelo. The Innsbruck organizers already said last month that they were bidding for the event after having missed out in their attempt to host the 2017 edition which will be held in Bergen, Norway.
If the information is confirmed, the race will be held in the moutainous Tyrol which offers excellent opportunities for climbers. The route for the road race would contain between 4000 and 4500 meters of altitude and the time trial would provide opportunities for riders with climbing legs. The UCI have told Cyclingnews that they will confirm the host in the coming weeks. Colombia and Yorkshire have also made a big.
Next year the World Championships will be held in Qatar while 2017 world champions will be crowned in Bergen, Norway.
