MTN-Qhubeka have announced their line-up for the Vuelta a Andalucia. With Gerald Ciolek and Tyler Farrar, the team has options for the sprints while climbers Merhawi Kudus, Natnael Berhane, Jacques Janse van Rensburg and Daniel Teklehaimanot should have an impact in the harder stages.
MTN-Qhubeka is ready to start their 2015 season and one of their first races will be the Vuelta a Andalucia. With two big summit finishes, three stages for the sprinters and a short time trial, the race offers the perfect preparation for both classics riders and climbers and the South African team is keen to make use of the diverse terrain.
For the sprint stages, the team will be led by team veteran Gerald Ciolek who took his only win in 2014 at the Spanish race, and new signing Tyler Farrar. The pair will use the race to build form for the classics and start to work together under race conditions.
For the GC, the team has several cards to play, with no less than four of their talented African climbers on the roster. Merhawi Kudus, Daniel Teklehaimanot, Jacques Janse van Rensburg and Natnael Berhane could all be protagonists in the two summit finishes which could build the foundations for a good result in the overall standings.
The team is completed by youngster Nicolas Dougall.
The Spanish race takes place from February 18-22 and has attracted a star-studded line-up that is led by Chris Froome, Alberto Contador and Nairo Quintana.
