Despite a fine offensive spirit, AG2R La Mondiale had to settle for places of honor (10th, 11th and 16th) in the French championships.
The challenging circuit Chantonnay suited Steven Tronet (Auber 93) who took the win. Romain Bardet, Damien Gaudin and Christophe Riblon were present in a group of eight riders that was caught a few kilometers from the finish. In the end, Alexis Vuillermoz managed to avoid a crash.
"Like last year we rode well," manage Vincent Lavenu said. "Unfortunately we were up against a big Cofidis team in the finale and they destroyed our offensive ambitions. Alexis Vuillermoz tried with Voeckler, but behind Cofidis were still was chasing too hard. The final scenario was not good. The positive thing is that the team is strong and that the teammates have dedicated themselves. I can not fault the guys."
