Stage 17 again allowed Androni Sidermec to attack. The boys led by Gianni Savio and Giovanni Ellena was sent off right from the start when Marco Bandiera got clear.
With two second places in the intermediate sprints, he took the lead in the sprints competition ahead of teammate Marco Frapporti. He now also leads the competition of most aggressive rider in the race.
Androni got a good result with with Davide Appollonio who sprinted to fifth place in Lugano.
