After weeks of people asking where he is, it is now known that Carlos Betancur will ride his first race for his new team, Movistar, on Italian soil. The 26-year-old Colombian starts his season in Milan-San Remo, the team confirmed to the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo.
Betancur currently resides in his native country until Saturday, when he will travel to Europe and undergo some tests. "I am fine. I have had a good preparation and have done a lot of mileage on the bike. I do not have a program yet, but the team wants to know how it is with me physically," Betancur said.
The Colombian climber’s career stalled after results for AG2R La Mondiale failed to materialize. With Movistar, he hopes to find a second youth. "I want to show I can still achieve good results,” he said.
