Two months after his horrific crash at the Vuelta a Espana, Kris Boeckmans has been riding his bike for the first time. Under a late summer sun, the sprinter from Lotto Soudal did a short training ride.
"Such a nice indian summer. Happy to ride my bike again #firsttime #nevergiveup," he tweeted after his ride.
Boeckmans suffered several severe injuries in his crash in stage 8 of the Spanish race and spent several days in an induced coma. It is still unclear whether he will ever be able to resume his career but his Lotto Soudal team have promised him full support.
