After 200 kilometers, the Ride London-Surrey Classic was decided in a sprint from a small group. Eight riders with winner Jean-Pierre Drucker (BMC) broke away in the last 30 kilometers. Attacks in the group during the final ten kilometers brought a selection, so that only four riders decided the victory.

Earlier the peloton merged briefly after passage of Box Hill and all attacks were neutralized again by then. Then a counter-attack shortly afterwards decided the race. BORA – ARGON 18 was on the front of the field to chase the group. But then the team had to stop the effort after no other team wanted to be involved in the chase. As the best rider, Phil Bauhaus took 22nd place after a multi-week break from racing.

"The guys rode a good race and you can see that they’ve all come very well out of the season break. The field split several times, but we caught up again and rode in front. When the eight riders attacked, unfortunately none of us had the punch to go with them. We then chased and don’t understand why no other team got involved. The gap wasn’t that big and with some support the race would have been open again. So we went out of power and at the end of the day there isn’t a result for us. But now we’ll go directly to Denmark, it’s our next chance to try again", Sport Director Steffen Radochla comments the race.
