After taking a dominant win in the British TT championships, Bradley Wiggins has made it clear that he is not on the Sky Tour de France roster that is likely to be announced tomorrow. The Brit is gracious in defeats and claims that 8 riders were stronger than him.
Bradley Wiggins proved that his poor performance in the Tour de Suisse was caused by health issues and not a lack of form when he took a dominant victory in today's British TT championships. Despite his strong showing, however, he won't be on the Sky roster for the Tour de France that is likely to be announced tomorrow.
“I’d have liked to have been there," he told Cycling Weekly. "It came down that there was a cut-off point, and having gone back to train on the track early, I didn’t have the preparation for the Tour. It’s disappointing on an personal level, but I think from a team point of view it’s probably the strongest team possible as it stands today.
“The team they’re sending is an incredible team. They’ve got the defending champion who has got to be the favourite to win it, they’ve got the likes of Geraint Thomas who could take the British road title on Sunday and take the jersey to the Tour."
Wiggins is now likely to turn his attention to the track and the Commonwealth Games.
