Oleg Tinkov stirred the cycling world by offering one million euros to its leader Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali but also, Nairo Quintana and Chris Froome if all agreed to race all three Grand Tours in the same season. An invitation to Dave Brailsford, the manager of Team Sky have given his opinion.
“We haven’t sat down and looked at next season yet,” Dave Brailsford said to CyclingWeekly. “We haven’t even debriefed this season. But I like the attitude, I must say. I think we’d all agree that seeing the best riders slug it out across the season at key races is what everybody would want to see.”
”From a performance point of view, it’s quite a serious undertaking,” he added.“But, from a conceptual point of view, I’m sure from a fans’ point of view, from a sporting point of view, I think it’s [Tinkov's idea] got a lot of merit.”
“And, of course, what we don’t know yet is the route of the Tour de France this year. We know the route of the Tour of Italy but we don’t know the Tour and we don’t know the Vuelta. So, until we get all the information, it’s going to be a pretty difficult one to judge.”
