For the second day running, the Tour of Denmark saw an action-packed stage as several attacks were launched and subsequently brought back by a peloton in which Team CULT Energy did their utmost to protect the lead of Magnus Cort.
Danish road champion Michael Mørkøv attempted a late breakaway, but even though he was aided by a couple riders that latched onto his wheel, the trio was brought back and a mass sprint ensued.
Just inside the 5km mark the peloton finally managed to restore and reel in the escapees, thus setting up a bunch sprint.
In the sprint Cavendish failed to live up to expectations. Instead, Matti Breschel took a convincing win ahead of teammate Marko Kump. By winning today, Breschel took a record-breaking 6th stage win in the Tour of Denmark.
Magnus Cort maintained his overall lead.
