Fabrizio Ferrari will continue at Caja Rural-Seguros RGA for one more season, his seventh at the Spanish team where he has been since the aquad returned to the professional scene in 2010. He is the only rider to have been part of the team during the entire period. His commitment and dedication is rewarded each year. "He is the consummate professional," says Eugenio Goikoetxea, sports director since 2009.

Caja Rural returned to the peloton in 2010 and did so as a continental team. Ferrari was  on the team back than and he is still there. In fact, he was with the amateur team a year before, winning in Bira and Euskaldun, after arriving in Spain in 2006 with Azysa and riding for Azpiru-Ugarte in 2007 and 2008. He left his home country of Uruguay at 20 years of age. A decade after starting his cycling adventure in Spain he is still there and now lives in Valladolid with his girlfriend.

Caja Rural was also the team where Michal Kwiatkowski, David de la Cruz and José Herrada took their first steps, three riders that have now established themselves in the WorldTour, and others like Gari Bravo, Egoitz Garcia, Joaquin Sobrino and Higinio Fernández have also been there. Chuzhda, Ruben Garcia, Guillermo Lana, Ruben Martinez, Arturo Mora, Aketza Peña, Ruben Reig and Portuguese Vitor Rodrigues were part of the first team. In 2016, Ferrari will be the only survivor.

Eugenio Goikoetxea, now sporting director since 2009 when it was an amateur team, confirms what we already know. Ferrari is an indispensable figure at Caja Rural even though he does not appear in the results, like so many others. "He's a rider who is always there wherever he goes and in any terrain, and is involved with his teammates and the team one hundred percent.  If you have to sign new people, the goal is to improve. To get  the same you stay with what you have," he tells BiciCiclismo .

He highlights Ferrari’s qualities. "Even if he has been away from racing for a month or two, he is a consummate professional and he always arrives perfectly prepared for all races. Others may make excuses, but he is a trusted rider for his teammates and the team. Whether you take him to Belgium, Italy or the Vuelta, he is always ready," he says.

"All directors who have been at this team have met him and all say the same. It is not only about the results, here are a thousand other things that are not given importance. He always does what he has to do. And that is evident in racing. He is always prepared and does not give you any problems, even if he is called at the last minute. And that's worth a lot. "
