In a season of bad crashes, Movistar’s Jonathan Castroviejo suffered one of the worst. After hitting a spectator at the Volta ao Algarve, he suffered a double fracture in his C7 vertebra and a fissure in his C1 and an olecranon in his elbow, and needed to wear a neck brace for two months as a result of the incident.
All in, the Spaniard missed four months of the season, but is now set to return at the Tour de Suisse later this month. Biciciclismo reports that he hopes to make the Tour de France team, as well as the Spain team for the Olympic time trial. His next big goal if the Spanish time trial championships.
