One of the best Polish time trialists, Marcin Białobłocki, has signed a 1-year deal with CCC Sprandi Polkowice.
"Marcin will be very valuable addition to our team. We are hoping that he will not only deliver some good results in races against the clock, but will also share his great experience and knowledge with our young riders. He knows exactly how to train, how to prepare and warm up before the time trial and knows how every detail is important.
"I’ve had a chance to work with Marcin on a couple of occasions in the National Team. He is an interesting person, who experienced the real life, outside of sport. He developed outstanding work ethic during those few years spent in Great Britain, having normal jobs. We hope that he will pass along his approach to the rest of the team."
The story of the 33-year old rider is unusual. A few years ago he had to stop his cycling career and move to Great Britain for work. After a while he returned to his training regime, combining work and cycling. He made a name for himself on the amateur scene and drew attention of smaller professional team, gradually getting closer to the Pro ranks.
He got his breakthrough moment in last year’s Polish Championships time trial which he won. A few weeks later he also took the victory in the last stage of Tour de Pologne, a TT around Cracow. By triumphing in a UCI World Tour event he proved to be one of the best time triallists in the pro peloton.
His palmeras include silver medal in this year’s Nationals (TT), three stage wins and a GC win at An Post Ras and 2nd place at Chrono des Nations as well.
Marcin Białobłocki is currently in Doha, where he raced in the World Championships time trial. He claimed 14th place. He was also part of the National Team in 2015 in Richmond and in this year’s European Championships in France. He took 9th on both occasions.
