MTN-Qhubeka is ready for the final European stage race of their season when they line up in the flat, windy Tour de l'Eurometropole. The team will be lead by Gerald Ciolek in the event that is usually dominated by sprinters.
Today Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung start its final stage race of the year, the Tour de l’Eurometropole in Belgium. This sprint friendly 4 day tour will once again attract a large World Tour field as many riders look to fine tune their form before the Tour of Beijing. With the likes of Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) and Arnaud Demare (FDJ.fr) present at the race, we can expect some really thrilling and fast stage finishes.
As the racing goes in Belgium though, narrow roads and a bit of wind generally cause for a race shake up. A strong and consistent team performance will more than likely ensure a good overall result and that is what Team MTN-Qhubeka are aiming for. Gerald Ciolek will lead the team in the UCI 2.1 race with a powerful line-up of riders completing the roster. Jaco Venter, Martin Wesemann, Johann van Zyl, Nicolas Dougall, Ignatas Konovalovas, Linus Gerdemann & Andy Stauff make up the rest of the team.
