At a press conference, Cofidis president Thierry Vittu announced the extension of the sponsorship agreement for three more years until 2019. The Director of Human Resources and Communication at the Cofidis Group confirmed the good news, sitting next to Nacer Bouhanni and general manager Yvon Sanquer.
Cofidis has been in the peloton since 1997 and so will be a main fixture for more than two decades.
Nacer Bouhanni, Daniel Navarro, Christophe Laporte, Florian Senechal, Geoffrey Soupe, Julien Simon, Luis Angel Maté, Nicolas Edet and Kenneth Van Bilsen are the nine riders that will represent them in the Tour.
Cyrille Guimard began the team in 1997 when Lance Armstrong was one of the riders. Just one year later, Bobby Julich finished on the podium in Paris and Frank Vandenbroucke showed his talent. The team was involved in a doping scandal in 2004 and suspendid its activity but returned with riders like Stuart O'Grady and David Moncoutie. The latter was their symbol until 2012. In 2010, they left the WorldTour but they have done the Tour every year. Sylvain Chavanel won their last Tour stage in 2008.
