In the absence of Nacer Bouhanni, Clement Venturini got his chance to lead Cofidis in La Roue Tourangelle where he finished second behind Lorrenzo Manzin in the bunch sprint.
"It's good to achieve a beautiful result this year," he told Directvelo. "That's true, but we ride to win, not to finish second. The victory was close. In the sprint I was boxed in between Samuel Dumoulin and a guy from Marseille. I had to slow down and restart, and then Lorrenzo Manzin won. I wish I could have done my sprint in a proper way. I have a bitter taste. We were only five Cofidis riders at the start but we stayed very compact. We tried to join every break. Since the victories of Nacer [Bouhanni], we have felt that there is a good dynamics. Behind the break, we did not have to chase. AG2R La Mondiale and Europcar did the work. I will now do the the Tour de la Somme, the Four Days of Dunkirk and the Tour de Picardie. I would like to do well in Dunkick."
