After the stunning success of yesterday, Sonny Colbrelli took 9th place in Stage 2 of the Tour du Limousin (Arnac – Lissac Sur Couze, 188.5km), the most demanding in this edition.
During the whole day the #Greenteam was together in the first positions of the peloton but in the final climb, Jesus Herrada (Movistar) attacked and took the victory. Behind him, the first part of the peloton was led home by Rebellin (CCC) who ended 2nd, with Colbrelli 9th.
Thanks to the solo success Jesus Herrada (MOV) is now the new GC leader, with Colbrelli 10 seconds behind in second.
”Today was probably the queen stage of the Tour du Limousin," Colbrelli said. "With my squad we always controlled the peloton until the buttom of the final uphill. On the climb I gave my all trying to keep the leader's jersey but Herrada proved to be the strongest. However I can be satisfied about my performance. The climb was steep but I was able to finish in the top 10. My legs are really good and in the next two days there’re new stages more suited for me."
