A Collision with a car has ended the 2014 season for Kristof Vandewalle prematurely. The Belgian time-trialist champion broke his scafoid bone during the accident.
The accident happened during training. Only 500 meter before finishing his ride Vandewalle collided with a car. Because of the accident, Vandewalle has ridden his last race of 2014 at the Tour de L’Eurometropole.
Vandewalle won the national championships time-trial for the third consecutive time this season. He also won time-trial stages at the tour of Austria and tour of Poland. At the world championship time-trial, Vandewalle finished at a disappointing 24th place.
