Danilo Wyss notched the BMC Racing Team's fifth top 10 result of the Tour de Suisse Saturday by finishing eighth after riding in the day's breakaway.
Wyss was part of a group of 19 riders that escaped out of the peloton about 25 kilometers into the 152.5-kilometer race that included three laps of a 38.7-km circuit. The group was not allowed much freedom and its advantage hovered at three minutes for much of the day.
Inside of 20 km to go, Alexey Lutsenko (Astana Pro Team) attacked and only Jan Bakelants (Ag2r La Mondiale) could follow. Lutsenko took the win while Wyss finished in a group of seven 22 seconds later.
Heading into Sunday's final stage individual time trial, Thibault Pinot (FDJ) leads the race overall. Ben Hermans is best placed for the BMC Racing Team, in 19th, 4:34 behind.
