The last stage of the Tour of Belgium, held in the Ardennes and partly on the Liège-Bastogne-Liège course, finished with a victory for Van Avermaet (BMC) who also won the general classification .
The day was difficult for the FDJ team but the record is very positive, with two stage victories for Arnaud Demare.
"Yes this stage, partly held in rain conditions, was complicated," says sports director Thierry Bricaud. "David Boucher abandoned, Lorrenzo Manzin suffers from gastroenteritis, Arnaud Démare was in a a group far behind with 100km to go. It was useless to continue.
"The other riders were good although Mickael Delage and Sébastien Chavanel were not on a course they love. William Bonnet was active and Arnold Jeannesson was not bad at all. Anyway, the results are good. We came here looking for a stage win and we have two."
