Arnaud Démare (FDJ) comfortably won the 2013 edition of the 4 Days at Dunkerque yesterday. The 21-year-old Frenchman ignited the race and won stages one, two and three of the confusingly titled five day race. The win was Démare’s first overall triumph in a stage race.
"I have to repeat what I have said all week; that I should thank my teammates for their efforts," Demaré told Het Nieuwsblad. "It was a bit stressful during the final stage for the overall victory was achieved only at the finish, but I could again rely on a very strong team. All day my teammates adjusted the pace and they made sure I could arrive at the finish line without any problems. I look forward to the Tour of Picardy [May 10-12] where I'll start as part of the FDJ team."
