After an analysis of the security risk, Belgian police has explained that Dwars door Vlaanderen will take place today depiste terrorist threats. Two explosions in the departure area of Brussels Airport killed 14 people. They were followed by another bom in the city's Metro, which killed at least 20 people.
"For the moment, Dwars door Vlaanderen will take place tomorrow, despite the terrorist attacks that took place in Brussels on Tuesday morning. The organisers mourn with the victims of these terrible acts. More information in due time," the statement read. But race organiser Guy Delesie explained that there will not be a podium ceremony and the peloton will have 'a minutes silence.
Most of the Giant-Alpecin riders were unable to travel to Belgian and so the German team will be unable to start.
