08.01.2017 @ 16:00 Posted by Emil Axelgaard

Four years ago, CyclingQuotes.com was launched as a new site with extensive news coverage, in-depth previews and expert analyses. Building on the success of Feltet.dk - our Danish website which has developed into the biggest cycling portal in Scandinavia - we have come far. Many readers use us as their primary source for cycling news and many regard our previews as the best in the business. We are proud of our achievements.

Despite our fine results, it has been necessary to focus on our core product, Feltet.dk. Unfortunately, it means that we no longer have the ressources to continue to run CyclingQuotes at the level which our readers ask for. With this in mind, it makes little sense to continue the project. It is with great sadness that we have taken the decision to close down the site with immediate effect. As of today, we will no longer post news on the site on a regular basis and we will use all our energy to develop Feltet.dk, Motionsfeltet.dk, Fanpicks.dk and a brand new site that will be launched in the near future.

As the editor of the site, I have worked tirelessly to make CyclingQuotes a success and no one is more sad than I am. With the decision to shut down the site, I will  move to Feltet.dk where I will work as the main expert with a focus on previews and analyses. We will also have more video content where I will ask questions from readers. I have been writing all the previews on CyclingQuotes and I know that many will miss them. Luckily, they will still be available on Feltet.dk but they will be in Danish. I hope some of you may still find them useful, maybe with the use of some kind of automatic translation. In any case, we will continue to use our Twitter account to make you aware of our previews and analyses. I may even still do a few previews in English but it is still uncertain where they will be posted. They may be posted on this site and I will use our Twitter account to tell where and when to find the material that was previously available on CyclingQuotes.com.

If an investor is interested in buying the site and build on what we have achieved so far, we would be open for a discussion. Contact us via mail@cyclingqotes.com and we will  try to negotiate the details.

Unfortunately, the road has come to an end for CyclingQuotes. I would have loved to continue the adventure but I will now do everything to make Feltet.dk an even better site. I want to thank everybody who has been involved in the project during the four years of existence. Without your tireless and dedicated contribution, we would never have made it this far. I also want to thank our readers for their use of our site. I hope you have enjoyed it just as much as we have.

See you on Feltet.dk!

Update, January 10

During the last few days, we have received numerous messages via e-mail and social media. It has been touching to read it all and learn how much you have appreciated our work. We are proud that fans, TV commentators and journalists from other media will be missing our site and that our decision to close down the site apparently 'hurts' cycling. It only makes it even more sad that we have been forced to make this unfortunate decision. We would have loved to continue our work and I can't thank you enough for your fantastic response to the demise of our site. It has been a truly humbling experience to read your words!

As promised, our previews will still be available on Feltet.dk. Unfortunately, they will be in Danish but they will keep the same well-known format from CyclingQuotes. Many non-Danish speakers have indicated that they want to use Google Translate to digest our previews and that they still want to consult the ranking of favourites at the end of the text.

We will use our Twitter account to keep you informed whenever a new preview is available. Furthermore, we have created this site with links to all my future previews.

I hope this service can partly erase the frustration and sadness that some of you feel, and I hope that many of you will start to use Feltet as a source for analysis of professional cycling. I will do my best to continue my previous work there.
