In Australia, Tsgabu Grmay has shown the first signs of his potential. The Ethopian who joined Lampre-Merida for the 2015 season obtained 12th place in the 3rd stage of Tour Down Under (Norwood-Paracombe, 143,2 km).
The result is very valuable, considering the quality of the riders with whom he battled in the final kilometers of the race.
Grmay crossed the finish line 15" behind winner Rohan Dennis and he's now 14th in the overall classification, 25" behind leader Dennis and 3" from the 10th place of Daryl Impey.
"I'm happy with the feedback I got in the race and also the result satisfies me, explained Grmay. "To find myself side by side with many of the best riders in the world is an honor for me, a great incentive to have more belief in myself.
"The stage was eventful, especially the finale. It was important to know how to manage the energies. I arrived in the last kilometers after having already spent a bit but I had good legs to stay ahead. It is a good sign for the finish on Willunga Hill where the race will be decided. I will try to do my best to be able to finish in the top 10 which would be a great achievement ."
