Europcar will be the sponsor of the French team of Jean-Rene Bernaudeau for one more year according to L’Equipe. The contract between the team and the company ends in 2015 and will not be renewed.
“We wanted to make our decision as soon as possible to give the team enough time to search for a new sponsor”, Nathalie Poujol of Europcar told L’Equipe.
Europcar entered the peleton in 2011, taking over the Bbox Bouygues Telecom team. The team was a Pro-Continental team for three years, but promoted in 2014 to the World Tour.
The team had a lot of success in the 2011 and 2012 versions of the Tour de France. Voeckler, who has been the face of the team from the start, finished fourth in the general classification and Pierre Rolland won a memorable stage on the Alp D’Huez. In 2012 the team won three stages.
