The Luxembourgish rider reveals his 2014 schedule: Captain at the Tour and at the classics

Fränk Schleck has had a rough time. Most notably with his crash during the 2012 Tour de France, and subsequently with the diuretic xipamide ban. Now he is back, and according to himself… With a vengeance!

“The ambitions for 2014? The Classics and the Tour de France. I am hungry for success, and full of motivation. I do feel wronged, and there is nothing like the feeling of revenge,” Schleck told RTBF

Schleck seems full of confidence, and is convinced of his own chances.

“Why not win the Liège-Bastogne-Liège? I believe in it. It is a race I dream about. And the day I no longer believe I will quit.”

He revealed his 2014 schedule, and it will see he Luxembourgish rider in action from the very beginning.

“My 2014 programme will be very traditional. I’ll start with the Tour down Under in Australia to get a relaxed start. Then the Tour of Oman, Paris-Nice, a Basque criterium, the Classics, and then a break after the Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Then I will prepare for the Tour de Suisse, the Tour of Luxembourg and the Tour de France. The programme was created in accordance with the Trek management, and they see me as the team leader.”

He also revealed that he would give his very best at the 2014 Tour de France.

“I think the 2014 Tour looks fairly typical. The ITT will be at the end of the tour, and will therefore not be as attractive to the specialists after two weeks of racing.”

“In 2014 I want to take my revenge.”

Asked about if he would consider it a disappointment if neither he, nor Andy would take the overall win Fränk remarked:

“We want to win the Tour. We dream of winning it. But it will not be a failure or disappointment if we don’t. We would only regret finishing second, third, fourth or fifth if we could not afterwards say that we had done our best.”

With this interview Fränk Schleck seems to be back on track, and if his legs are as strong as his ambitions he will once again be part of the peloton’s spectacles of 2014.
