Next season Enrico Gasparotto will start a new adventure at Bahrain-Merida. The winner of the Amstel Gold Race will share the leadership in the Ardennes Classics with Sonny Colbrelli. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 34-year-old Italian reveals that his dream is to win Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
At Bahrain Merida Gasparotto will be reunited with Vincenzo Nibali with whom he rode at Liquigas and Astana.
"We will start the season together in Argentina at the Tour de San Juan (January 24-29). Then we will do altitude training in Tenerife and it is possible that we will ride the Abu Dhabi Tour. But the programs have yet to be determined.”
A key goal is definitely the Ardennes Classics where he will share the leadership with Sonny Colbrelli.
"Sonny and I are different riders. He has the sprint to make it to the finish in a group and I will have to attack. We are complementary whereby the team has two cards to play.”
One classic that high on his wish lis: Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
"I know it's a hard race for me, but my dream is Liège-Bastogne-Liège."
