Francesco Gavazzi was close to the win at the 2015 Trofeo Laigueglia. The Southeast rider did a great race but it was not enough to beat the excellent Davide Cimolai .
"I am satisfied to a certain point," he told Spaziociclismo. "I would have preferred the victory. In the last two years, victory has escaped me so many times even though it is by so little. Cimolai was good, smart and did a good sprint. I started a bit too late. Too bad but it is the beginning of the season and we look forward with optimism ."
He regretted that the "there was not as much selection "as could be expected. For this reason, the Italian tried to attack on the final Colla Micheri climb, responding to the acceleration from Niemiec and Moser and trying to surprise"the fast men." The tactic did not pay off but showed that he has "good legs".
The first races for Southeast were still positive. After the three successes in Venezuela and the victory at the GP Costa degli Etruschi, the team again achieved a good result.
"Last Sunday (at GP Costa degli Etruschi, ed.) Ponzi and I prepared a perfect sprint forManuel (Belletti, ed )," said Gavazzi. Today Manuel helped me a lot to hit the Colla Micheri nar the front. It's normal, we are many and we are going well. There is room for everyone, the calendar is full of races and so it is important to work well . We are a compact team . Petacchi is the first to lend a hand and he is a great example for all. We can only look to the future with optimism."
The future for Gavazzi includes participation in the GP Lugano, the Strade Bianche and the Coppi & Bartali stage race.
