Gazprom-RusVelo has finished its preparation in Calpe, Spain, and is approaching the debut of the 2016 season at the Mallorca Challenge, January 28. For the first time, the riders of the Russian team took to the streets with the colors of the new sponsor.
The phase of athletic training provided an opportunity to train in ideal weather conditions, under the careful supervision of sporting directors Sergey Klimov and Aliaksandr Kuchinski, as well as medical staff and the team nutritionist. "The training camp in Calpe allowed us to train in an environment different from the usual, taking advantage of sun and good weather conditions," Sergey Klimov says.
"This training camp was very important for us», continues Sergey Klimov. "We tried to find the best condition for the season and for the first races. We concluded the first part of the preparation, exploiting the work done in December in Tuscany and looking for the right condition after the holidays. Now the second phase of the preparation begins, in two separate groups of sprinters and climbers. All this will allow us to get closer to first official engagements in a good way. We are now focused on the races, we want to obtain the best results immediately."
At the training camp of Calpe, almost all cyclists were present, with the exception of those who will be at the World Cup on track in Hong Kong. All riders will be together in Mallorca before the season debut on the road.
