After a successful season, Alexandre Geniez wants to grow again. Finally, at the start of a great ride with his participation in the Tour de France and Vuelta a España, where he won a stage, the FDJ.fr climber will be at the start of the Tour of Italy. "My goal is to do the double, if not triple," he admits in Centre Presse Aveyron, though, mindful of the season just ended when his dream was about to be broken by a fall and the aftermath of mononucleosis, is aware "There are so many ifs..."
The Corsa Rosa, in particular, may be important for his career since the leaders of the team want to see him in action "without help from captains," for which he will be, along with Francis Mourey (20th overall in 2013). He will be their man for the hills and one of the protected riders.
"In theory, I will have carte blanche. I will probably try an escape from a distance and get a stage victory rather than target the overall," details the 25-year old trans that has already studied a course he deems "easier than the last Vuelta.”
