Geraint Thomas could be targeting the Giro d'Italia instead of the Tour de France next season. The Sky rider has started the French three-week race in six of the past seven years and has been one of the key rider in all three of Christopher Froome's overall wins.
The Welshman hopes to play his card in a Grand Tour according to Sky Sports. "The Tour suits me a bit better than any of the other ones because the climbs are a bit longer and not as steep, but obviously you have got a three-time winner in your team. Maybe I'll ride the Giro. There are so many options next year; it's exciting. I'm really looking forward to it."
Spaniard Mikel Landa has already made winning the pink jersey his main goal for the 2017 season.
The 2017 Giro d'Italia will be 100th edition. The race will start on May 5 in Alghero on the island of Sardinia and end on May 28 in Milan. The race will have four summit finishes and two individual time trials.
