A few days ago, the announcement of the teams selected for the Dubai Tour followed less than two hours after the announcement of the cancellation of the Tour of Qatar. The latter has always benefited from a beautiful peloton, especially with sprinters and classics riders. All riders who planned to participate must now review their plans. Dylan Groenewegen has already modified his schedule.
Groenewegen was originally scheduled to start his season at the Tour of Qatar (February 6-10) but he has now opted to begin his year at the Dubai Tour (31 January to 4 February).
In 2016 Groenewegen made his debut at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana (which was held during the race in Qatar) where he he won the stage to Alzira ahead of Nacer Bouhanni and was second in Valencia behind Stijn Vandenbergh. In 2016, Groenewegen took eleven victories, including a stage of the Eneco Tour, the title of Dutch Champion, a stage of the Tour de Yorkshire and Tour de l’ Eurometropole. At 23 of age, he is the future of Dutch sprinters.
