Riding for a team loaded with sprinters, Marco Haller doesn't get an awful lot of opportunities to ride for himself but this week he is enjoying the role of lead sprinter in the Tour de Pologne. Today he took his second consecutive top 10 result when he finished 7th in stage 2.
Team Katusha’s rider Marco Haller took 7th place at today’s second stage of the UCI WorldTour race Tour de Pologne, with the finish in Warsaw.
Omega Pharma – Quick-Step’s Petr Vakoc became the stage winner, while Michael Matthews from Orica-GreenEdge finished secon.d
"Today’s stage was much better that yesterday's," Haller sai.d "The wind was not so strong, but anyway it was really hot. It was especially hot was when we entered the final laps in the city.
"The bunch had a very high pace the whole day, but one rider could survive and win the stage. At the finish line Eduard Vorganov provided me with great support, I tried to do my best, but after two so long and hot stages I was not so fresh. Anyway, I managed to finish in top 10, that’s not bad."
