The Vuelta a Andalucía-Ruta del Sol has finalized the course for the 2015 edition which will include two summit finishes and have no time trial. It is also expected to be officially given a 2.HC category by the UCI.

The Vuelta a Andalucia will take place from February 18 to 22 and has almost finalized the course, with only the starting city yet to be determined. The race will go through six of the eight provinces, Huelva or Cadiz, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Jaen and Malaga. It will be a tougher Vuelta a Andalusia than in previous years. Biciciclismo reports that there will be two summit finishes on stages 3 and 4 and no opening time trial as there has been in recent years.

Furthermore, organizer Deporinter is awaiting official confirmation from the UCI that the race will be upgraded from 2.1 to 2.HC, a proposal that was made by the federation itself and which has been received with great interest. On Friday, they sent all the required information and now await the response and the final confirmation which is expected to be a formality.

An upgrade would mean a greater presence of WorldTour team, up to 70% from 50% but in the past, the race has asked the UCI to allow more teams from the first division. Deporinter is not lacking interest and will probably have to refuse several requests, meaning that there will be little room for continental teams.

The one-day races Vuelta a Murcia and Clasica Almeria will be held two weeks earlier than usual, on February 14 and 15 respectively. Hence, they will be take place a few days before the Vuelta a Andalucia, meaning that the three races will be held within a span of just 8 days.

Alejandro Valverde has won the last three editions, in 2014 ahead of Richie Porte and Luis León Sánchez. Markel Irizar won in 2011 and Michael Rogers triumphed in 2010.
