The Gazprom-RusVelo Team has announced the team composition for the Giro d'Italia race that starts on May 6th in the Dutch Apeldoorn and ends on May 29th in Italian Turin.
The decision on who will defend the team colours in this fabulous race was taken by the management and sports directors based on the results of a long preparation period. Key competitions for defining the team were Giro del Trentino and Croatia Tour of last week.
The Gazprom-RusVelo Team for the Grand tour consists of: Sergey Firsanov, Alexander Kolobnev, Ivan Savitsky, Artem Ovechkin, Alexander Serov, Artur Ershov, Alexander Foliforov, Andrey Solomennikov and Alexey Rybalkin.
The team leader is Sergey Firsanov who has already demonstrated perfect condition in the recent Coppi e Bartali, Giro dell'Appennino and Giro del Trentino races. He will be supported by the experienced team riders as well as young talented mountain riders. Ivan Savitsky is the team’s main hope for the sprint stages and Alexander Kolobnev is the front rider for the mixed stages.
