The Russian Katusha team is the second team from the UCI World Tour catergory to confirm their participation in the Clasica Almeria.
The Russian team that includes riders like Joaquim Rodriguez, Alexander Kristoff, Ilnur Zakarin and Simon Spilak, has reached an agreement with the organizers to do the next edition of the race in Almeria like they did in 2015. The 2016 race is scheduled for February 14.
This year Katusha was second in the UCI World Tour ranking, beaten only by the Spanish Movistar team.
Among its most important victories, you find the Tour of Flanders (Alexander Kristoff), Ghent - Wevelgem (Luca Paolini), Tour de Romandie (Ilnur Zakarin), Tour of the Basque Country (Joaquim Rodriguez), Tour of Switzerland (Simon Spilak), Grand Prix Plouay and Three Days of De Panne (Alexander Kristoff). And one can add another 33 wins, including stages in Vuelta a Espana, Giro d'Italia and Tour de France.
With this important agreement, the organizers of the Clasica Almeria take another step towards their goal of having the best ever field for the 2016 edition and so continue to give prestige to both the race and to the province of Almeria.
The race traditionally suits the sprinters and was won by Mark Cavendish in 2015.
