In 2016 Martin Kohler will return to his home country of Switzerland. The 30-year-old has confirmed to radsport-news.com that he has signed a two-year contract with the new pro continental Roth-Skoda. The team hopes to move up a level after just one year as a continental twam

"The move to ProContinental stauture and the team structure were for me with decisive criteria for my signature," Kohler explained his change.

After a disappointing season at Drapac, the Swiss champion from 2012 wants to again have a better race schedule. "I know that I need more races to find a good rhythm. I need a racing program in Europe and Roth-Skoda offers me that," said Kohler, who only had 35 days of racing in 2015 of which only seven in were in Euorpe.

Although he had no success at Drapac, he refuses to describe his time there as a mistake. "I did not know how I would react to such a complete change in racing program," said the former BMC rider.

In 2016 Kohler wants to "win races and prove to myself and the team that I have earned a place at this level.” Riding in his home country should make things easier.

"It's always nice to go to a domestic team. There are no language barriers and the mentality is the same. It simplifies many things, "said Kohler, who will also assume the role of leader at Roth-Skoda.

"I am very pleased to be working with the younger riders. Whether I am a mentor, I don’t know. But I'll try to share my experience and try to further make the boys develop,” he said.
