Steven Kruijswijk has finally learned what the 2017 Giro d'Italia will look like. For some time, it's been a known that the GC rider of LottoNL-Jumbo will focus on the Italian race I 2017. "For me this is a very nice Giro. It has a bit of everything," Kruijswijk tells NOS.
"It's a real Giro d’Italia, as we will vist almost every region," said Kruijswijk, who seemed to be heading for overall victory in the Giro this year. However, a heavy crash against a snow wall threw a spanner in the works. He has left the bad memories behind and is looking ahead.
"I'm mostly looking forward to the last week, which is traditionally the toughest," the Dutchman said. "But in the fourth stage, we already have the first summit finish on Mount Etna and there are two long time trials which is not going to be bad for me. I am looking forward to the stage over the Mortirolo and the Stelvio in the final week.”
