The technical staff of Lampre-MERIDA will work together with athletic trainer Michele Bartoli on a program designed to adjust and perfect the team time trial skills of the six blue-fuchsia-green athletes this week on the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza as preparation for the UCI world team time trial championships on Sunday.
Assistant manager Marco Marzano explained the planned course of action on the famous circuit: "We will have five hours at our disposal every day, which is more than enough time to fine tune most of the necessary mechanisms to achieve a good performance in the team time trial.
We're not going to work on the condition of the individual riders, given that their form should already be more than good: half the group have just finished the Vuelta a España and the other half return from racing in Canada, while Adriano Malori is preparing for the world individual time trial championship.”
On Wednesday 18, the priority will be to study the composition of the 'train', i.e. the order in which the athletes will line up during the TTT.
“It's a very important step, you have to make the right choice and you must take into account many parameters: for this reason, we focus on this aspect until we find the best solution. To do this, we will initially divide the six runners into two groups of three members and then we will reassemble them into a six-man group once again,” Marzano explained.
“Once the order of the individual elements of the sextet has been established, the team will proceed to complete a first test of the distance to be completed in the Worlds. Thursday 19 September will be dedicated to the performance of two time trials and the finishing work on the bikes.”
Last year the Lampre-ISO team finished a disappointin 28th overall in the world TTT championships.
