Most of the Lampre-MERIDA riders that animated the week of the Ardennes Classics, have travelled to Switzerland to participate in the Tour de Romandie, scheduled from April 28 to May 3.
The sports directors are the ones who led the team in the Ardennes, Philippe Mauduit and Simone Pedrazzini and they will again lead Rui Costa, Diego Ulissi, Manuele Mori and Jose Serpa who have been joined by Przemyslaw Niemiec, Tsgabu Grmay and Ruben Plaza in Switzerland.
Initially, also Rafael Valls would have competed on the roads in Romandie, but the consequences of the crash in Liege-Bastogne-Liege (badly bruised right knee) force the Spaniard to skip the race. Instead the always reliable Matteo Bono will take the place after having alos been riding in the Ardennes.
The route of the Tour de Romandie will be give no room for recovery for the GC riders: a19.2 km team time trial will start the race and the final time trial of 17.3 kilometers will come after four hard stages in the mountains.
The team will be led by Rui Costa (3rd edition 2014), Niemiec and Ulissi who will be supported by climbers Serpa and Grmay while Bono, Mori and Grmay will be valuable in the team time trial.
