Three days before the end of the 99th Giro the riders will cover the longest stage of this Grand Tour. It’s a huge opportunity for the breakaway riders.

Lars Bak already did a strong effort in yesterday’s finale. He has his mind set on this stage as well.

“Yesterday I really aimed for the stage win," he said. "I wanted to get in the break at the beginning of the stage, but as everyone is tired several teams blocked the road quite soon. I had to come up with a new plan and I decided to attack after the last intermediate sprint, with 25 kilometres to go. I made it past the flamme rouge, but then I got caught. It was good for the confidence though. My condition is still fine.

"Up until now there weren’t many opportunities for a rider like me, but today’s another chance. I expect that it will be a huge fight to get in the break and I think today one of the escapees will win the stage. The breakaway could get up to ten or twelve minutes. Today it’s a stage in which all riders in our team can achieve a good result. It’s a bit of a lottery getting in a break, so it would be already good to have one man in the front group. If we have more than one rider at the head of the race it would be great of course, but that’s not easy. But you can be sure that we’ll try our very best today!”
