David Lopez will stay with Team Sky for a fifth season after having recently renewed for another year, according to a statement issued by the press office of his agent. "In the end I have been recognized for the work I did in the Vuelta a Espana,” he said.
David Lopez is 35 years old and will be one of the veterans of the Sky team in 2017 when he will do his 15th season as a professional. He debuted in 2003 with Labarca 2 - Cafe Baqué and moved to the ProTour in 2005 with Euskaltel-Euskadi where he spent two years. In 2007 he moved to Eusebio Unzue’s team (first Caisse de Epargne and then Movistar) where he rode for six seasons and in 2013 he arrived at Sky.
Lopez has done 15 grand tours and has 3 wins, the main one being a stage in the 2010 Vuelta a Espana.
