The Katusha team has announced that Tiago Machado will race the Vuelta a Espana in place of Giampaolo Caruso. The Italian rider was tested positive for EPO in a re-test of samples from March 2012. In accordance with the UCI Regulations the rider has been provisionally suspended.
Other changes to report. Yuri Trofimov and Egor Silin will not be present at the three-week race. The team intended to bet on these riders but they raced in the Olympic test event in Rio with the Russian national team. Gatis Smukulis will replace Egor Silin.
Katusha line-up for Vuelta: Joaquim Rodriguez, Vladimir Isaychev, Pavel Kochetkov, Alberto Losada, Tiago Machado, Daniel Moreno, Gatis Smukulis, Angel Vicioso, Eduard Vorganov.
