Daniel Martin (Cannondale) was targeting the stage win in stage 4 of the Vuelta a Espana but more bad luck put him on the defensive.
"I really wanted to win this stage because I liked the finale. But unfortunately, Colombian riders brought me down and I was forced to chase for a long time to make it back into the bunch and I didn't have any energy left. To make matters worse, I also had to change bikes. The finale was for me but I didn't have a chance to express myself on it. Maybe next time," he said.
