Tom Meeusen had a nice battle with Kevin Pauwels and Sven Nys in Hasselt. Finally, Telenet-Fidea captain had to acknowledge the superiority of Sven Nys. "I can live with this second place," Meeusen told Het Nieuwsblad.
The trio dominated the race and provided a thrilling battle in Hasselt. About halfway through the race, Meeusen was briefly dropped but he managed to rejoin his two rivals.
"Then I have worked to defend my podium," he said. "I saw that Diether (Sweeck) came very close and decided to attack. That cost som energy which I missed in the end when Sven made his move. Well, he was the strongest, I am satisfied with this second place. Since Niel I have been good but after my bad luck in Gavere, I had just lost confidence. Now I am on the podium again. That feels good and is a boost after a few difficult weeks. "
