Diego Ulissi allowed the blue-fuchsia-green colors of Lampre-Merida to be in the final top ten of the overall classification of the first edition of the Abu Dhabi Tour.
Thanks to his impressive performance in the queen stage which took place yesterday with the summit finish at Jabel Hafeet, Ulissi reached the 5th place of the general classification and he had no problem in defending it in today's final stage on the Yas Marina circuit.
The bunch covered 20 laps of the 5.5 km track, for a total distance of 110 km and the race ended in a bunch sprint. LAMPRE-MERIDA focused the attention on the support of Sacha Modolo, who could not deliver a good performance because of a touch of wheels in the final bend, when he was following his lead-out man Davide Cimolai who was leading him to the front position of the bunch. Modolo had to brake, losing the chances to achieve a top result: he was 18th.
Ulissi was 5th in the overall classification, 41" behind Chaves.
