Even though there were strong indications given last weeks that Bauke Mollema would finalize negotiations with Trek Factory Racing team to become their grand tour contender from 2015 season, the Dutch rider revealed that he is in talks with several WorldTour outfits but staying in Belkin would be his first choice after team’s future is confirmed.
As one of a few grand tour contenders running out of their contracts this season and with two consecutive top ten finishes at the Tour de France, Mollema was reportedly approached by several strong squads aiming to revamp their line-up for the next season, but the 27-year old Dutchmen decided to wait with the final decision until the final deal between Belkin Procycling and the Dutch national lottery, their new sponsor-to be, is officially confirmed.
"I've had contact with other teams. As far as I know the team has had contact with new sponsors but we have to wait maybe one or two more weeks before any news is made. I'm already talking to other teams though. I want to take a decision within one or two weeks. We'll see what happens. When I get an offer I'll compare it with what I have from other teams," Mollema told Cyclingnews Wednesday morning.
"Yes, it's a good time to look around but of course I hope the team continues for next year. We've done some good things and as a team we're working well."
