André Greipel sprinted to his third win in the final stage of the Tour of Oman while Chris Froome defended his title in the 6-day race. We have already posted several reactions from the final stage and have gathered a few more below.
Vincenzo Nibali (Astana, 39th s.t., 12th on GC +1.51)
“First Westra went in the breakaway, then Agnoli went – then in the middle of the race I went with Kreuziger and Cancellara – but Sky shut us down each time to protect the lead – in the final Bozic was set up for a good sprint but there was a lot of confusion and a lot of riders who shouldn’t have been there at the front.”
Filippo Fortin (Bardiani, 6th s.t., 131st on GC +40.16)
”Finally I had a chance to sprint and I’m happy with my result. It was a demanding stage, the breakaways forced the peloton to keep a constant fast pace. In the last km, Canola led me out very well, helping me to get a good position for the bunch sprint."
Roberto Reverberi (sports director Bardiani whose best rider was Filippo Fortin in 6th)
”It was a challenging Tour of Oman where we got positive results, looking also at the many profiles on the start list. All the team did well, everyone found a stage to prove his skills. We come back to Italy with a brilliant shape and the right confidence for the next important events."
