Gerald Ciolek (MTN-Qhubeka) held off Roy Jans (Wanty) in a photo finish in the crash-marred bunch sprint in the third stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia. We have already posted several reactions and have gathered a few more below.

Alexey Lutsenko (Astana, 13th s.t.)

“I heard the crash behind me – like usual in a race, everybody trying to get into position for the finish, somebody touches wheels and then a big fall – Tanel [Kangert] was in it, but he skidded to avoid it as much as he could and only just fell over, he wasn’t hurt.”

Martijn Verschoor (Novo Nordisk, 11th s.t.)

“It was crazy going into the finish. In the last 300 meters, the road narrowed and I couldn’t get out to open up my sprint. I was boxed in and did my best to finish strong.”

David Lozano (Novo Nordisk, 106th +2.20, 2nd in the mountains classification)

“I want it and I’m ready to try. It is important for me and for the team to win this jersey.”

Pawel Franczak (ActiveJet, 15th s.t.)

"Before the finish, it was all strung out. In the final kilometre, I was in about 10th position but in the last roundabout, a rider from Etixx rode into the wheel of another cyclist. Hence, I lost a few positions. The speed was very high near the finish so there was no time to get back to the front. In the end, 15th is not band but I had definitely hoped for more. Tomorrow is another day and we will continues to fight.

Piotr Kosmala (sports director ActiveJet whose best rider was Pawel Franczak in 15th)

"I am happy that our rider have fought right until the end. It is nice to see that they are fully committed and not afraid to battle with sprinters who have already won a lot of races. Three riders in the top 20 is a great result. I am very pleased with their attitude."
